German Pekin

The breeding of the Chinese version with pure Japanese ducks from Dutch ships gave the German Pekin a steep stand, much like an Indian runner duck but boasting a much stockier appearance.

The pecan duck came to Germany from France and the United Kingdom shortly after it was imported by Walter Steward in 1872, and the German version Pekin was born. While pecan duck didn't make it back to the UK until the 1970s, Aylesbury is still the favorite duck meat choice in the UK today.

After World War II, Germany did not develop German pecans commercially and was listed on the critically endangered species. Today these birds are kept as pets and are on show.

The German Pekin started shortly after they were imported to the UK via Walter Steward in Pe2, thus leaving Germany and the German Pekin duck born. The Pekin duck did not make it back to the UK until the 1970s.

Aylesbury

Aylesbury ducks, although quite similar in appearance, are not really pecan ducks. The names of these ducks come from the town that originated in Aylesbury, England. Since at least 1690 Aylesbury and its surrounding areas there are bread ducks.
The Pekin duck bears a fine resemblance to Aylesbury, a British duck breed. The pikins can be distinguished from the Aylesbury ducks by their larger overall size, bright orange-yellow bekes and more erect textures.

Grimwood Hybrid Pekins

With an American pecan-like appearance, these ducks have made Grimaud Ferraris in France. Grimaud ducks genetically vary as fertile, high output egg layers with improved feed conversion ratios for meat birds.

Jumbo Pekin

Jumbo pecans breed over medium-sized pecan chicken with a meat strain pecan draw. The largest pecan you can find, these birds are often the preferred choice for meat birds because of their size and fertility rate. Because these ducks grow so fast, their legs are not built to hold their own weight, which reduces their life cycle and productivity. This is why people generally do not keep them as pets.

White crested duck

A domestic White Crested Duck looks almost the same with a Pekin duck, but it is not exactly Pekin. The emergence of domestic crested ducks was probably featured in paintings in the East Indies more than 2000 years ago.

So how do these guys get their beautiful short hair? It is a deformity of the head caused by a genetic mutation called a hemizygous. This gene causes a sharp decrease in hatchability rates; A third of the dubs will not have a head that has a piece of poultry.

Chinese Pekin

The preferred duck was a clean-hearted white meat bird, which resulted in selective breeding, and in the early 1800s the Aylesbury duck was regularly sent to England, including a London one. The Aylesbury duck was considered more flavourful and less fatty than the pecan duck. A large number of reproductions and wars led to the fall of Aylesbury, with only one major shake left in England today.

There is a difference between wild and domestic crest ducks. Wild crested ducks don't have that cute little fluff ball on their head.

Take away

Pecan ducks are popular for producing quality meat, as well as their egg production. These are good layers and an average of 200 white-colored eggs per year (if the duck is prevented from hatching or if the duck does not try to hatch). Pecan duck is a very intelligent bird. They will tremble loudly to warn others of any predators nearby. The pecan duck tends to be broody, if not bored and makes a good mother. Poultry grows much faster than other meat duck varieties. Pecan ducks are very temperamental and they are nature friendly. They are very good as pets. This is a long-lived bird. The average life expectancy of pecan ducks is 9-12 years. Some ducks live longer.
